Bringing Stone Creek to A Unique House

Well, we did it!  We've expanded to a new location.  This one is much smaller than our room at Deep Creek Vintage, but I like the fact that we can create a whole different look and feel to this space. 

 

 

This space is located at A Unique House in King George, VA - a HUGE mall and full of anything and everything you can imagine!  We now occupy a modest 8x10 space amongst some fabulous vendors.





 

I'm also lucky to have my friend, Erica of Tattered Elegance, as my neighbor here.  We are also neighbors at Deep Creek!  This girl has some serious talent!  Check out her page!

Chasing Waterfalls - Cedar Chests, That Is....

There seems to be a love/hate relationship with the Art Deco period out there, including the waterfall style.  However, I personally love the look and the craftsmanship put into the designs is nothing short of total admiration.

 

I came across this chest at a recent auction and it needed quite a bit of cosmetic work.  I've done several of these over the past few years and knew I was up for the challenge.

 

Here's a glance at what it looked like when I bought it:

 

Not real pretty.

 

With some refinishing work, it's now glowing with beauty again.  No paint needed for this one!

 

 

Look at this detail!

 

 

I brought back the cedar smell with just a bit of sanding with some 220 grit sandpaper.

 

 

Clean as a new penny.

 

It even has a hidden drawer...

 

 

So, perhaps chasing waterfalls is not always a bad thing.... :)

A Vintage Frame of Mind Holiday Market

Whew.....we did it!  We finished out the holiday season!  I hate to say it...but I am Christmas'd out and it's not even here, yet!  If I see another Poinsettia pillow...well....I may just scream.  Many, many hours are put into these shows, and just as many late/sleepless nights.  I finally feel like I can breathe...however, there is no question...I still love doing it all!

 

The last show of the year, A Vintage Frame of Mind, was held in Courtland, Virginia.  It is so much fun to meet up with new friends and fellow vendors! 

 

Here I am with two of my favorites!  Tony from Feathernesters (and one of the fabulous duo that put on The Vintage Home Market in Richmond) and Libbie from Rusticity Décor, also in Richmond. I'm the chipmunk in the middle. :)

From Drab to Glam - It's All About Vanity

Finally.....a piece of furniture completed and a post done!  Whew.....I love doing the Vintage Markets...but I have been slightly overwhelmed this past month after having three on our plate.  Not to mention, we also have a new second shop location and possibly going to a third....more on that at a later time!  Nonetheless, I am working hard and getting it done!

 

On to my latest project that I just finished today!  In the beginning, she was very ho-hum and quite frankly, not so pretty.  The finish was bad and refinishing all those nooks and crannies was not on my "want to do" list.  But, I'm going to be honest...I totally bought her to paint.

 

 

Do you blame me?  Look at her now!

 

I added a little surprise with stripes in the cubby part.

 

I painted her with homemade "chalk-like" paint in Linen White and added at touch of glam by using one of my favorite paints...Modern Masters in Warm Silver on the top, details and feet.

 

A girl like this has to have sparkling jewelry...these gorgeous knobs were found at Hobby Lobby (where else?).

 

 

She is now fit for a glamorous starlet!  This beauty will be available at the Vintage Frame of Mind show this weekend in Courtland, Virginia.  Hope to see you there!
